Hello good people!
I've been looking around for how to repair my basement stairs and plastered walls, but I'm not finding any clear answers.
I tried fixing a step last summer, but it didn't hold up at all during the winter as it cracked and pieces came loose. I'm attaching some pictures.
I have no idea what type of concrete or plaster it is, and as I understand it, that's relevant for repairs.
Damaged basement stairs with cracked rendering and peeling paint on the wall, showing signs of wear and concrete exposure. Concrete basement stairs with visible wear, cracks, and chipped portions; surrounding walls show peeling plaster and patches of discoloration. Cracked concrete basement stairs with damaged plastered walls showing signs of moisture and wear, needing repair. Damaged basement wall with peeling plaster and exposed areas, showing cracks and discoloration due to water damage or weathering.

I myself don't have much experience with repairs, but I would think that you need to remove the outermost material to be able to get a larger surface to attach to.

Just saw the repair and adding:

Maybe you need to drill rebar into the old structure to hold it together.

Okay, yes they sound like good ideas, thank you.
