Often it sits so loosely that you can scrape or tap it down, but if it's worse, you might need to chisel it down with a wide chisel in the demolition hammer. Are you going to install new tiles? If so, perhaps you can suffice with applying a little filler to the wall beforehand if the adhesive is set hard (and in that case, it should be mineral-bound filler).

Attach it to your angle grinder and connect an industrial vacuum cleaner to the angle grinder (if you have one with an exhaust). It will dust like crazy, but it is extremely effective.
You can then use the disc to grind away epoxy paint on floors, smooth out casting joints in concrete, grind down plaster in the basement, etc.
