I have a load-bearing stud in the bathroom that is in the way of the floor drain. If I am to place the floor drain with the approved distance from the wall, at least 20 cm, I need to cut out approximately half of the stud. Is there a proper way to reinforce this stud, or is the only option to cut out the floor and install a new stud? It is not possible to glue/screw a new stud directly against the old one, as this would also have to be cut out.

Oh, what a hassle.
I would never have weakened a rule right at the floor drain - that's the part of the bathroom you want to be the stiffest. Leaking floor drains are no fun.

It seems like you'll have to take the long and troublesome route...

I asked a friend who works as a carpenter on construction sites. He thought, he wouldn't promise of course, that since I'm not cutting the stud completely, it should hold. I will build around it with noggings and nail plate.

There is also an undamaged stud in the wall with a distance of 30cm, to the next undamaged stud it is 50cm. I'm a bit unsure though, so I will probably nail on the plate and insert a new stud at 1 meter.

According to our contractor, you can place a spikplåt on the top side of the beam. Secure it properly with ankarspik. Check with your contractor if that is sufficient.

Best regards,
David

Has no constructor. I have now done as described above, but I'm not quite finished. I just need to nail the rule from the basement. But I have checked with a spirit level and two people who load the edge of the rule and it doesn't move at the floor drain... Yet.
