I want to buy stronger reinforcement bars, type 20 mm and up, 30 - 40 is also fine.
We are going to build a pergola out of this.
I have been around and checked, but it seems difficult to find stronger ones at a reasonable price.
What I need are 6 pieces, 3 meters long and, as mentioned, 20 mm or up.

Hello

Go to the nearest bridge or tunnel construction and ask nicely. Bring cake...

Best regards, Wasa

Do you have any idea what a bar like that weighs, and someone might estimate 10 SEK per kilo.
I just went out and test-lifted a 25 mm steel shaft.

Can’t you imagine a welded steel pipe, if you wash it in tin, it'll be rust-brown by next year. And it weighs a fraction and "is easy to get"

I would check with a scrapyard. But I agree with the prototype, that will be heavy as hell, and 10 mm is enough for it to last a lifetime.

One can be liable for damages if something like that falls on someone's head.
What you find at the junkyards is often so crooked and bent that it's impossible to straighten it out.

The idea was that it would be rusty immediately...
It's just the posts that I want to have in heavy reinforcement.
I was thinking of making the frame itself from 12 mm rebar.

Completely cleaned steel rusts (unfortunately) all too quickly, and you can speed up the process with some saltwater and sweaty fingerprints. Rust it will, rest assured.

I agree, instead buy pipes at a company that sells trade steel. Then bend the reinforcement bars that should be the "roof" and insert the ends of these into the pipes. If you choose the right dimensions, you can probably fit 3 reinforcement bars in each pipe end, which provides a nice opportunity to quickly and easily build a truss.

I am grateful for your ideas, but unfortunately, it is not up to me to decide how the pergola should look. She saw it made only of rebar at the villa fair, so it must be made of rebar...

Then she is the one who gets to help with the lifting too, the only difference is that reinforcement is actually "kamjärn", in the rolling process it gets ridges both lengthwise and crosswise but try to ignore that.

Try to find someone who has neglected the storage of pipes so they have rusted.

Hi,

I found 20mm rebar at www.armeringdirekt.se
Check with them, they have a fixed shipping rate of 799kr.

Best regards,

Need reinforcement steel in the dimension of 28-30 mm, have realized it's not the easiest to find.

Only need about 2-3 lengths of 120 cm each. But can of course buy a full length and cut it myself.

I estimate the weight to be 5kg/m, so ~30kg for a full length which is completely manageable... but where can I find it in the Stockholm area?

Bromma Stål brommastal.se maybe
If you live in the south, Bygma Tegelförsäljning in Högdalen industrial area might be able to fix it.

Found a company in Nacka with stocked rebar up to 25mm. No minimum order and they cut freely according to one's wishes.
