Hello,
Can someone kindly describe how to attach a screed rail on a concrete block wall.
Tried with a 12mm wooden strip but it falls when adjusting the thickness.

Is there an easier way to attach the screed rail?
Thank you for your help.

  • Concrete wall with vertical strip of mortar, incomplete construction; includes step ladder and paint bucket on the ground.
Have you tried using bruk?

Well, could it have gone wrong when I applied plaster and then smoothed it out before placing the batten? I read today that untreated pine can absorb the water.

What do you think about for example applying high grout to attach 🙈😅

Your mortar looks dry. Apply a slightly thicker line of mortar and press in the wooden lath. Level the lath with a spirit level and remove the excess mortar. Then you can apply the mortar between the laths.

Here you can see how it's done.

Thank you so much for the feedback👌
I will apply more plaster and water the slat.

I'll include a short video of how the plaster's consistency looked in the bucket.

If I'm a hopeless case with poor skills, what do you think about applying dabs of sealant?
If the plaster has dried, do you take a chisel to remove the sealant? 🙈😅

The guide track is attached with the same plaster you apply. I don't see any primer (like betokontakt) or mesh - which is a must when we've done the job.

Looks thick. You need to mix for a while to make the mixture smooth and a bit looser than yours. Hard to explain.

I agree that it looks thick, it looks more like mortar than plaster. Doesn't the bag say how much water it should have? I usually mix water by feel, but it's typically looser than in your video.

#4 shows approximately how firm the plaster usually is when I plaster.

Screw down the screed rail if you can't get it right. And then unscrew it and remove it 1-2 hours after the plaster has set. You don't want to try to remove it with a chisel; you'll end up pulling the plaster off too...

Thank you very much for the help 👌
I got advice from a mason to apply the render mesh first and then use basecoat A, which I understand is the reverse 🙈 unfortunately done in 2 rooms

I missed the primer, it's not something I use, instead, I spray with water using a spray bottle and then try to apply the render + untreated pine batten 12mm thick

The recommendation was to pour in 4l into the bag and I probably took 4.2l but in the cement mixer about 5min I had to pull out the mixture. It didn't come out. Now it was just a 25l bag.

I will add more water.
Do you have any suggestions for a primer?
The walls are concrete hollow blocks so they need drilling first, then plug + screw, so applying render would be nice.

Try watering more and a bit looser soil

Betokontakt from Knauf is what we've used. Unfortunately, I'm not sure about how much water should be mixed since we primarily use a special plaster machine.

You poke too much and the bruket is too dry.
Throw on the bruket and press the list firmly.

An addition, make sure to ventilate PROPERLY and have ventilation on, otherwise, you may have condensation issues. There is a lot of water being applied to the walls.

Thanks for the tip, there has been condensation on the windows this winter when I've been heating the base.

I thought it might have been that or the concrete I removed. It has been around 80%.

Do dehumidifiers work, or is it necessary to keep a window open?

Ends up with rot on the beams too, haha 🙈😇

Thank you so much for your help,
I'll try again today and apply it generously 💪
Is it ok to use a 12mm strip, otherwise it will unfortunately be thicker, 25mm, and then you'll have to apply it 3-4 times if you're doing 5.7mm at a time.
