I would think that exposure to asbestos is similar to taking a cigarette. You don't die from one cigarette, even though you CAN, but the risk is probably greater to get 7 right on the lottery. But if you smoke every day for 20 years, you end up in a different situation. Much like someone who works with asbestos without protective equipment every working day for 20 years.

I don't know exactly how it was because I didn't care that much. But I seem to remember that they drove around with an X-ray bus, visiting workplace after workplace. I didn't work with asbestos, but in an office.
