Hello!
We are going to fix up a room in the basement (it is drained, with an insulated slab and underfloor heating, etc., so opinions on rooms in the basement are not welcome).
The room is about 5m long and 3m wide, two walls are brick exterior walls, one wall is a brick wall, and the last wall needs to be built to separate from a "corridor."
My options are either to build an interior wall with steel studs, insulate with mineral wool, and then OSB + drywall, with an air gap of about 5cm or plaster the wall.
Complicating factors are that there are sewer pipes from the toilet that I plan to build in (advantage of using a stud wall?) The electrical work is minimal, so I guess I can run conduit before plastering or in the steel studs, which again gives a slight advantage to the stud wall.
I plan to do all the work myself except for the electrical connections, so this only concerns materials and not labor costs.
We are trying to keep costs down as much as possible since we are also renovating the second floor and the facade + roof, but due to an upcoming addition to the family, we need to get a room ready as soon as possible. What do you think is the most cost-effective choice?
