You used one of these, you say, why would the screw need to be longer than the plug or will the screw go through the "little shelf's" front edge.
Now you have to think a little more, the plug expands. The material that needs to be there might be deeper than the screw.

You will mount the plug without the shelf. Then you take out the screw, put the shelf in place and screw it back in.

I know, but it was still missing 20 mm, but it's resolved now.

really strange that you got your extra 20mm, after you sanded the screw head

You could read how I did it instead of claiming I'm lying???

S
is just curious.

everyone is curious how you did it

Read my solution then on page 2

Your description is completely incomprehensible.

Why do you think so? The original screw is 65 mm and needed 40 mm more. But when I expanded the plug, I only needed 20 mm more, and then I ground down the head of the screw so I could countersink it more.
"expand the plug"?

Did you have a shelf that was 50-60 mm thick?

S
yeah I know. many want pictures
but many here are a bit more picture-dependent than I am.
because they want to see your own clever solution

Ignore pictures!
But what no one understands is

Because you previously got advice:
JoakimJohansson said:
I don't know how the shelf looks but could you countersink the hole in the shelf so the head goes in further? And in that way, work with shorter bolts
So tell us now!

If you did as JoakimJohansson wrote, you could at least thank for the help!

Initially, when I measured, I needed a 40 mm longer screw because the one that came with it was 65 mm. But of course, I hadn't screwed in the plug with the shelf in between when I measured, so I put the screw into the cavity plug and tightened the plug, and then I only needed 20 mm more. Then I ground down the screw head so I wouldn't need such a large countersink and countersunk 20 mm, and then screwed in the screw.

Then I shaved down the screw head so I didn't need to countersink so much and countersunk 20mm, and then screwed in the screw.
Thanks. Now I hope everyone understands how you did it.

What do you mean by a real hardware store? If screws that long aren't manufactured, it doesn't matter what kind of hardware store you have, right?
A real hardware store is a shop where you buy things in a box/bag or by bulk, and what they don't have in the store they can order in. There are a few left in Sthlm.

Yes, I have one like that too, but I didn't want to order a box with 100-200 screws when I only need 2 pcs.
