I am renovating my house from the 50s and after tearing down an ugly woven wallpaper, I discovered that one wall is made of a strange spånnskiva. It's a rather loose material, it almost feels like cardboard. Do you think it’s possible to apply a broad putty on it? I was thinking of painting first to stabilize the surface. The alternative might be a layer of paper otherwise, but the surface still needs to be fairly smooth underneath. Any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

It's tretex and there's nothing to plaster on. Put up paper and be satisfied with that.

Ah, it's tretex, of course!
Is it possible to use wallpaper paste directly on tretex? An alternative could be to apply renovation plasterboard, but then I have the same question, which glue?

Wallpaper glue works well, but treetex probably absorbs a bit more than other surfaces, so a bit more glue might be needed. If I remember correctly, it can also work to apply lightly water-damaged wallpaper paste first which can soak in and dry. Then it doesn't absorb as much afterward. Painting with a suitable primer also removes the "absorption" of extra wallpaper paste. :)
