I am renovating my house from the 50s and after tearing down an ugly woven wallpaper, I discovered that one wall is made of a strange spånnskiva. It's a rather loose material, it almost feels like cardboard. Do you think it’s possible to apply a broad putty on it? I was thinking of painting first to stabilize the surface. The alternative might be a layer of paper otherwise, but the surface still needs to be fairly smooth underneath. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
Wallpaper glue works well, but treetex probably absorbs a bit more than other surfaces, so a bit more glue might be needed. If I remember correctly, it can also work to apply lightly water-damaged wallpaper paste first which can soak in and dry. Then it doesn't absorb as much afterward. Painting with a suitable primer also removes the "absorption" of extra wallpaper paste.
