Partial pipe replacement, does it work?
Since we've unexpectedly ended up digging around the entire house without warning, maybe it's time for an unplanned plumbing replacement as well. I've never done this before, but others here have and might be able to answer a few questions.
Can you splice into the old network in the house, or do you have to replace everything at once? I guess vertical splices aren't a big problem, but what about horizontal ones?
What does it look like at the handover point? Do you need to involve the municipality in any way, or can you just go ahead?
The same goes for water. Here I guess you need to coordinate with your water supplier. How does it work in practice?

You can splice into modern pipes, either at an existing coupling or just cut the pipe and splice. Slightly different types of splices in both cases.
