Thinking of building a new room in the garage.

Today there is a plastic mat glued directly to the floor, which is concrete. I don't think it's particularly insulated, it's very cold.

I'm considering using a Platon mat, as I've heard it's good, and you can install mechanical ventilation underneath if needed.

Is this a good approach or are there better alternatives?

How do I proceed once the mat is in place to frame the walls? How do you attach the frames to the floor?

Are there good descriptions of the above?

Thanks for a great site!

We have done similar projects. Distance mat with mechanical ventilation (Jape).
To insulate internally, the studs were set in the outer wall, after which the other studs were placed in these studs. We left a gap of just under 2 cm between the concrete slab and the stud closest to the slab. An uninsulated concrete slab has a humidity of 100%. Our slab looks quite good (dry). We sanded and applied leveling compound over the entire surface. To prevent cold drafts, we used foam sealant between the slab and the stud. Foam sealant consists of closed cells, so I assume it's okay. Another option might be sill insulation and plastic.
