Hello

I've torn down the bathroom and plan to make it a bit bigger. It seems to be tiles on drywall on wooden walls. I think there is mold/ugliness on the wood. It feels dried out. Is it mold? Can I tear it down myself with a regular face mask and take it to the dump?

Risk of spreading dust in the house? How do you think I should proceed?

Doesn't look so bad with the part that's visible. Sure, you can tear down the boards as well or wash them off and apply mold protection. If you then build with a moisture barrier, it shouldn't happen again. First, check if the moisture has come through another way. Bauhaus and paint shops have good products for this. If you want to be sure, companies do this and offer a 5-year warranty.

There are quite decent face masks with filters etc. at Biltema for around 100 kronor. Just a tip!

Thanks for the tip! We finished tearing down the entire wall with a regular face mask and it feels fine. I will have a company fix the bathroom; they checked with a moisture meter and the wood was completely dry, so I think they are using mold prevention agents.
