I live in a single-story brick house with a basement. Built in 1963. How can I find out which walls might be load-bearing? It doesn't show on the house plans. Could it be that only the chimney breast and outer walls are load-bearing? Is there a professional I can hire to check it?

Certainly, it may be the case that you don't have any load-bearing walls. And the chimney breast is probably not load-bearing. It stands by itself in the house. But it's hard to be completely sure. It might be safest to let a structural engineer or knowledgeable carpenter check it out before you start tearing it down.
I am wondering about a wall in my basement that I want to remove. The wall is about 100mm and plastered. The ceiling in the basement consists of large concrete slabs (concrete flooring) and this wall is located about 2000mm from an exterior wall (the house in total is about 7000mm). Is it possible to support such slabs? The garage is located right before the room, and if you were to extend the wall, it would split the garage in half, so to speak. I can attach pictures later, but I would appreciate if someone could give their opinion and reassure me
before I take a sledgehammer to it.
