Recently became a homeowner and this is my first post, so please be patient with my lack of knowledge!

I have torn down a wall that was perpendicular to an exterior wall and now want to even out the exterior wall with something so that it can be painted or wallpapered - the question is what is best/easiest. You can clearly see where the wall was as you can see the brick behind it.

In the first picture, you can see how it looks at the top, and in the second picture, the middle/bottom. There are two plastered walls meeting, but they differ in depth; the right wall is lower than the left by 2-3 cm. One idea is to plaster the right wall in layers or maybe put up drywall on some framing?
The house was built in '47, so the walls/floors/ceilings aren't exactly perfectly straight.

Exposed brick wall section where a perpendicular wall was removed, revealing different wall depths and plaster texture with visible wire mesh. Exposed brick wall section after removal of a perpendicular wall, showing plaster and an uneven surface, with a hollow square cutout on the right.

Grateful for any tips!

Is it indoors and to be used as a room, you can see what you can do, frame out and put drywall on the entire wall, what is the hole in the wall for?
