But when you vacuum, the machine mostly makes noise? if you only listen at the actual intake of the hose, it doesn't sound extremely loud?...
Maybe you should listen "in the back" of the vacuum cleaner, where the exhaust is instead. But be careful not to inhale any dust residues ;)

And you, that thing with "Kalles Asbest" wasn't funny, just stupid. Do you behave equally silly when you talk to your psychiatrist?

What do you mean not funny, it was super cool don't you think, monkey?
I think you are very very negative.. I'm obviously not happy with what you claim, as it implies a noisy environment.

But how do you explain that this silencer exists? http://www.luftbutiken.se/ljuddampare/480-ljuddampare-stl-125-60cm.html
Because if the only thing that helps against noise in air ducts is reduced airflow, that machine would be like selling pebbles.. you can reduce airflow by taping over the hole.

It's not the airflow you should reduce but the airspeed. You do this by increasing the area, as I mentioned in your other thread.

Regarding standard duct silencers that you linked to, they attenuate fairly well in high frequencies but poorly in low frequencies. The weighted noise values often listed on machines don't actually say much but serve more as a guideline. What is interesting is how much noise the machine emits at different frequency bands. To fully determine what's required to achieve a given noise reduction, the installation needs to be measured, either in the field or in a lab.

If you're allergic and/or worried about emissions and particles, it might be good to know that common duct silencers contain mineral wool. I explained an alternative solution in your other thread. Foam is ineffective for sound insulation due to its low density.

Yes, sure, very fun :p

You will get a little math task. Good to have something to occupy yourself with instead of lying sleepless and worrying.

If you want to completely avoid noise, you should not exceed 3m/s, which you can achieve with 160

Now calculate the airspeed in your device, and compare it with the above value.
It's not the size of the flow that determines how much noise it makes (roaring due to turbulence), but the airspeed.

If you tape over the holes, you will probably increase the airspeed and thus the noise.
But then the fan motor itself making more noise at higher speed is of course obvious.

Good night, and don't forget the respirator ;)

Read what's stated.

I was planning to make my air purifier silent and the first step is to buy this sheet [link] and tape it on with double-sided tape, since it's aluminum, otherwise suggest a good glue.

My question is IF IT IS DANGEROUS, meaning toxic to inhale, say you're sawing it and get a LOT of dust. I will have it on a machine and therefore the vibrations will cause wear to some extent.

I don't want to be surprised after I've started the project so I'm asking now instead.

AND I wonder if it is possible to saw/cut it, since I need to do that to make it fit, there are handles and other things on the air purifier,
Hi

It is basically harmless to you! Any particles you ingest are so few that it won't harm you. Unless you plan to handle several tons of the material? You ingest more unhealthy substances just by taking a walk outside or if you eat fruit from ICA.

Nice that the OP is only afraid of asbestos, otherwise they wouldn't even be able to go outside... there are even more dangerous things in the air... ;)
Today asbestos doesn’t kill as much, today there are other things that kill...

But hypochondria is a serious illness....
