Hey! I'm considering opening my kitchen to the ridge, which will be about 4.50 meters.
In the kitchen, there are 5 rafters. 2 of these rest on each wall. There are wall plates in these walls that the rafters rest on.
That leaves 3 rafters in the middle. If I don't have a beam going across the room, will the wall collapse?
The picture might help.

I don't quite understand what you mean.
Are you thinking of opening up a large hole in the attic floor?
Unfortunately, it can't be done just like that because the bottom chord of the trusses is there. If you cut this, the roof will collapse like a house of cards.

You still need something that holds the whole package together. (If it's a standard truss construction)
I guess there are beams in the ceiling at each truss today?
That is, what is black in the picture here: http://www.takstolsfabriken.com/takstolsvensk.shtml
