Hello.

I am expanding the house with the basement. I'm sitting and considering what type of beam I should have over openings where the joist above will be placed against. But then it struck me. Won't the edge beam (POS 3 in the link) take the load from the load-bearing exterior walls? So I really only need to dimension the beams for the openings after the floor joists?
Could it be so that if I attach the floor beams to the edge beam for interaction, I don't need any beams over the window openings in the basement?

Hope you understand what I mean. Ask if you're not clear.

you mean removing multiple floor joists?

No. What I'm wondering is if I can remove the beam over the window opening if, for example, I screw and glue the floor joists to the rim joist.

you're not thinking of the lower sill?

The lower sill will remain. Just like above in the picture. We'll take the picture by the way. And imagine that there would be a window under the lower sill. In the foundation wall. Do I need to have a beam over that opening in that case, or will the edge beam take care of the load from the floor joists that land over the opening? That is, if I fasten the ends of the floor joists screwed and glued together for interaction.

you mean that. there are those who have messed it up and those who have laid a railway track.
undresyll, kantbalken I want. however, it is actually only the beam that bears weight

Haha now I don't get the last part. Would you like to clarify? Only kantbjälke you would go with because it's the only one that takes the load?

S
excuse me.
of course keep the kantbalken.
