I am going to move a couple of interior walls in the basement. The basement is furnished even though it's not a bedroom.
Currently, there is a laminate floor on top of a vapor barrier over the entire floor and an interior wall stands on this floor. Now that I'm demolishing, I'm considering cutting up the floor where the new wall will be and placing the wall on a steel frame against the concrete.
Is there any risk with that? Is it just unnecessary and should you keep the entire floor?
It is not unlikely that I will lay a new floor in one of the newly created rooms within five years.

You might want to be careful not to go through the plastic wrap/vapor barrier.

If the interior walls have been standing on top of the laminate floor so far, it probably won't be any worse if they do so in the future as well?

The most convenient thing would be to place the walls on the floor. But since I'll probably change the floor in one of the new rooms, it will be easier to cut it now. That's likely how it will be. I'll make sure to repair the ångspärren.
