Hello,

We are in the process of replacing our ceilings. We have torn down the old ceilings, which consisted of stretched fabric, and framed for Huntonit ceiling panels. We are now considering whether to put a fivecm insulation between the frames. The insulation would then be placed under the existing vapor barrier. Currently, there are modular insulation cassettes between the roof trusses that are difficult to remove if one wanted to move the vapor barrier beneath the new insulation.

Can problems arise if a fivecm insulation is placed under the existing vapor barrier?
Is it worth the effort to add extra insulation?

The house is a single-story wooden house from 1974 with a flat roof. It is quite poorly insulated.

Generally, it is said that the barrier should be as close to the warm side as possible and at most 1/3 of the wall's total insulation into the wall.

So, in your case, it shouldn't be a problem to frame with a 45 and insulate between before you put up the huntonit. But, as mentioned, it depends on what you have on top.
