I need tips for a smart construction to reinforce the patio awning when it is extended.
So, the awning I have is 3.6m wide and extends 2.5 meters out. The awning has no support at the front edge and when it is extended, I would like a "thing" to stabilize it.
My idea was to mount a dowel between the patio railing to brace the awning so it is not lifted up or pushed down by the wind.
To attach this dowel, I thought of mounting a protruding metal plate both on the awning frame at the front and on the outer side of the patio railing. In the dowel, there should be a French screw where I have cut off the head and drilled a hole in the bolt.
The bolts are thus inserted through the metal plates and then locked with a pin.
This construction should work, but it feels somewhat complicated.
I am grateful for other ideas.
PS. I hope someone understood my description...
Edit: Including a picture.
And as everyone on Blocket writes... "it's not mine in the picture, but the same."

Maybe the picture helps to explain what I mean.
