Hello!
I'm trying to figure out how to attach my handrails to the drywall in the staircase of our house.
The staircase is a U-model type. So two sides are about 1.4 m long and the long part about 2.4 m.

I was thinking of attaching the handrail with these handrail brackets https://www.bauhaus.se/ledstangsbeslag-matt-silver.html

The problem is that not every bracket will hit a stud. How do you attach them then? I want it to look nice too.
It seems to be framed as it should with 60 cm centers, but if you only attach it to the studs, it will look ugly.
For example, on the long part of my staircase, you can attach to a stud in the middle, but each end will not reach a stud.

So how do you do it? Should you use wall anchors and screw the bracket in, or some other type of anchor plug that holds for a slightly more coarse-threaded screw?

Thanks in advance!

My experience is that handrails can sometimes be subjected to unexpectedly large loads. Attaching into the plaster doesn't feel quite right, especially at the endpoints. An alternative is to attach an attractive board as a base for the mounting of the handrail.

Exactly, I also feel that it doesn't seem quite right to just use some kind of plug in the drywall.
But then the board needs to be the entire length of the handrail.
This board should be around 22mm or something to be something to attach to?

Yes, I think so. Go for some material with a bit of finish, planed pine or similar.

How did it go with the handrail on the plaster wall? I have the same question as you, namely how to get it to stay in single plasterboard?
I was in a bit of a hurry when I dismantled and threw away the original handrail and didn't mark the attachments. So now I'm left with newly wallpapered staircase walls without a handrail and without marks of previous attachments. Probably blocking behind the plaster, but how do I search for these?
