I think I usually use a Zircon.

Snaptoggle for 27 SEK each they can keep, costs less than half from the UK. And under 4 SEK in the US.
I should probably ask my buddy in LA to send a box with 100 pieces + 1/4" screws should be about 600 SEK total.

They must be absolutely fantastic screws if you're even ordering them from the USA.

It feels like these for under 5:- each work just as well in most situations, even though they require "through-hole" mounting, which snap-toggle does not.

But, I will continue to use my molly-expander, despite having mounted several hundred, I have never happened to get too close to a stud or encountered any of the other problems mentioned in the thread. The only "problem" I have encountered 2-3 times in 15 years is being unsure if it was single or double drywall on the wall, which has taken me a few seconds to figure out.

Rule finders that work well are for example?
I have tried both cheap models for 99 kronor from Jula and more expensive versions up to a thousand kronor, they indicate exactly the same at my place...

How much can the drywall itself handle then? With a hole in the middle between the studs?

Significantly less than the plug :)

It's tricky to give an exact weight when it comes to a wall because the forces can vary so much depending on how the loads look, it's much easier for something where the force goes straight down parallel to the panel and the plug.

Well, I don't know about that, but if you're getting them anyway, why not save 2000 pix :D
