Help with push-up type inspection hatch

Unfortunately, the craftsmen have not managed to install it properly, resulting in the hatch hanging down from the hinges and it also being extremely tight with the frame, making it almost impossible to open and close. It hardly feels right considering it should only require a light push to open. Now you have to pry it open with a screwdriver.

Unfortunately, the craftsmen have already built it in, spackled, and painted it, so I would prefer to avoid tearing it out.

Anyone with experience with similar hatches?

Sounds like the frame is crooked.

Start by comparing the diagonals on the frame of the hatch. If they are different, I consider it very difficult to get it right.

I measured yesterday with a laser level and the vertical parts of the frame were half a centimeter skewed. Apparently, that's enough for the door to be almost impossible to open and close without using a screwdriver. Do you have any tips on how to fix a skewed frame without having to tear everything down?

I had found the screws around the hatch and removed the frame. Not much work... Then you can tinker with it outside afterwards.

Unfortunately, that won't work as the frame has already been built in with drywall.

What matters is the diagonals. They should be as equal as possible.
It's OK to rotate the door, but for everything to align, you need to check the diagonals.

I would ask the carpenter who installed the door to solve the problem.

the screws are covered in spackle, should be easy to find. then you can have the hatch out in 2 min.

Then it's no worse than pulling them by the ears and asking them to redo it so it works.
