I would aim to run a stud against or near the wall and then studs spaced a little more than a meter apart. Just a decent straightedge to skim with after that. Just place the studs so you can easily lift them.

Thanks! Absolutely, I will do that. I was thinking of fixing the studs in a bit of EPS-concrete so I can adjust the height, is that the easiest?

That works.

Take some smooth metal pipes and fill them up with eps.
Studs sound tricky and possibly not so straight, doesn't really matter since you're going to float later.
My experience with eps (Höganäs) is that it also expands a bit.
Might be worth considering.

We poured the laundry room last fall with EPS concrete. The height varied between 10 and 50 centimeters (filled in with isodrän where it was a bit higher to avoid mixing too much). Really easy to work with, but it greatly helps to be 2 people so you can take turns mixing, otherwise it takes quite a long time. A larger barrel is good to have for mixing since you need to mix a whole bag at a time.

As others have written, it's not super important to get the surface 100% right because you level with self-leveling compound afterwards anyway. Used my father-in-law's laser and height markers when we floated the next day. Turned out well.

Good luck!
