I am in the process of replacing the facade on my house which has been extended in different phases. I just tore off the facade from an extension and discovered that geotextile fabric has been used to protect the insulation from wind. What do you think, should I remove the geotextile fabric and install a more suitable one or does it work as it is?
It should be added that the geotextile fabric looks fresh and nice...

Hi Jimmy,
A BIG welcome to the forum!
There are three things I want to do.
1. Bump this post because I find it interesting and you want a quick response.
2. Give you my first question. What type of markduk? The black one with green stripes in it or the white one. Neither of these keeps water out. Both are designed to allow water through, forcing everything underneath to remain at root level.
3. Address this with the builders as soon as you can. Before you get more responses here, ask them what they have actually used, if this fabric is waterproof, and what their thoughts are. Also, ask how they have handled penetrations, bends, etc. Are there photos?
Once again, welcome to the forum!
Best regards,

It is the white tarp. Very thick and stiff. Has also appeared in some places in the garden. Smells like bulk discount!
The thing is, behind the tarp is straw insulation. I'm not overly keen on also having to deal with straw all over the place. I'm therefore considering simply attaching Isover facade panels outside the tarp. Do you think there's any risk in that, or should it be done properly right away now that the wall is open?
Otherwise, they did a proper job with the tarp. Generous overlaps at corners and seams...
