If you have concrete flooring, you can use a fitting of this type:
A steel plate with two round bars. The column for the stair railing is milled on the underside and it then covers the plate. The column is slid onto the round bars like so. It came from the stair manufacturer when we installed our staircase.
Threadlift: Nice! I'm going to make a similar straight railing in the coming days and I'm wondering what dimensions you have? Rudis on "fine carpentry" and also wondering what the wood is called or is it just regular standard lumber?
Oh, I see that Johannes hasn't been online since January 2016, so I'd appreciate answers from others regarding the wood and suitable dimensions.
