Hello
I could use some tips on how to secure my freestanding posts to the floor for my new stair railing. I'm a bit worried that it will be unstable at the outer edge.
Any other ideas on how it can be improved are welcome.

The best is if the last post can be screwed into the joist, then it becomes very stable. I have done that on my last post. The attachment is not visible in this picture but I have the same principle on my railing.
Your railing doesn't look very long, and additionally, you have an angle that stabilizes it, so it should be possible to make it steady with simpler methods.
Another way could be if you place the posts on the bottom board and then screw/glue the posts into it, and then screw the bottom board to the floor. The entire railing with posts and spindles can then be assembled before attaching it.
No, I meant that the railing turns 90 degrees and thereby becomes sturdier than if you just had a straight part. Otherwise, I believe in MB77's idea of attaching the posts to the bottom board and then fastening it to the floor. It's probably the easiest and will be sturdy and good.
I copied Spikab's solution with a threaded rod that in my case is attached directly to the floor.
And a plate at the top of the post which is then concealed with a cover.
Dowel screw!
Sold at Bauhaus (NOTE: approx. 20cm long in total with a nut in the middle, "wood thread" of course!
Attached my posts this way (+glue) and the joists lie between the posts. Holds like iron - but mine go through chipboard and down into a stud underneath the chipboard!
Status update.
This weekend, I got the posts into the floor. I pushed them down to the ceilings and screwed them into the staircase and the side piece in the mortise. It will be rock solid once I get the handrail on.
Now, there remains some routing, trimming, and the handrail.
