We are going to install a Contura 690 which requires a 50mm air gap behind it, but from what I understand, it can be mounted directly against the wall if the wall meets fire rating E160. :-/
What does fire rating E160 mean???
Does a 100mm leca wall fulfill the requirement???

I am doubtful that 100mm leca is sufficient. It's usually said one row of bricks. Alternatively, there are special approved stones that create an air gap against the old wall. This solution only adds about 50mm. Talk to a company that sells fireplaces.
I think it says E I 60, meaning it withstands 60 minutes in a fire, but it’s not exactly fire we're dealing with here, just the fact that it gets extremely hot during burning that can last for a few hours at a time.
There are, as mentioned, other materials like Ytong or Siporex that have a better ability to keep the heat away and don't build up as much as brick or leca.
So if the distance from the wall is the problem, you won't get below the 50 mm distance that the air gap should be if you're going to build with something. Air is the most effective insulation, plus you get circulation behind it and the heat is utilized in the room.
