Hello!

I'm in the process of installing paneling on the interior wall at home. I went with 22x195 Bilad log paneling. Now to the question. It's about 60 square meters and hand nailing feels impractical. However, I have this:

And these nails:

50mm

Is it possible to install the paneling with this or do you have to hand nail with round head nails for it to hold? The paneling is overlapping.

Grateful for your response.

Will go well, guessing you're shooting in nåten?

Nåten ? The rule CC 60 I will smash in :)

Edit: Yes exactly now I'm on board. Yes but I will do it :)

Good, so invisible dyckerts ;)

I think it sounds far too weak to install such a wide panel with just small nails outdoors. There are substantial forces when such a piece wants to move a little. I've never installed hidden outdoors, but isn't there something similar to a floor screw or a thicker nail with a head suitable for driving into the edge?

INNER WALL!

I can imagine purchasing some screws that might work. But I'm not keen on hand-nailing or renting a machine :)

Tips on screws that won't crack the panel, in that case.

Oops, brain freeze here

Now that we've moved in, I would also have used molding screws. Wonderful to work with and nearly impossible to split the wood with.

Maybe use self-tapping screws so the panel doesn't fall down if you decide to put up a shelf :D

I wouldn't have nailed such thick boards with 50mm brads. It's often said that the nail should go in 2-2.5 times the length of the material you're fastening, so with the most lenient calculation, you'd need a 66mm long nail and drive it perpendicularly into the panel. Since you're nailing into the groove, it'll be at an angle, which means you need even longer nails.

Trim screws could definitely be an alternative.

There are also guns for thicker nails...

This screw is awesome! I've used it for floors 28 mm and wall paneling 19 mm, all screwed into the tongue. I have used 42 and 57 mm length.

Where can you buy it? :)

I bought mine at the regular building supply store, in my case GS-byggvaror in Gullbranna. But it's probably available at all "real" building markets, like Beijer, K-rauta, and Optimera. However, probably not at discount places like Jula, Biltema, and Clas O.

Gunnebo is a classic supplier of fasteners. Check with your nearest http://www.gunnebofastening.se/kontakt/saljorganisation/

If you have a Bauhaus nearby, they have Essve's equivalent. Otherwise, one of the pro shops as mentioned.
