Fence with hidden screw
Yes, first I made a block with guiding holes that I used as a spacer. But I quickly discovered that it worked just as well freehand when the slats are so spaced out. I placed the screw in the middle of the rib and about 45 degrees skewed.Nicklasand said:
Hi, off topic but if you see this, nice fence! We're planning to build something similar. What I'm wondering is if you used 45x28 slats as you mentioned in the thread start? That sounded thick to me but it looks really good in the pictures you posted! Trying to find 45x22 but it's not the easiest to find at the moment. Hope you feel like answering

Thanks, yes we are still very satisfied and have received many compliments for the fence.
It's true that it's 45x28. I think it will be hard to find anything thinner that is pressure-treated at least.
I experimented a bit with scrap pieces before I made my decision, and I think the trick is also having proper dimensions for the posts and stringers for good proportions. I have 95x95 posts and 95x45 stringers. Then I also recessed the stringers into the posts by 40mm so it becomes compact and sturdy.
Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions!

A thousand thanks for the quick reply, then I probably dare to go with 28mm anyway! And thanks for the extra info, I'll incorporate that here too

I don't think you should use thinner lumber than 28mm even if you find it, the thinner it is, the more it warps.
