Enclose the railing on a 70s pine staircase in plaster.
Well, it turned out great!
We have a similar staircase in black/brown stain that I'm considering doing similar work on, and now that I see how it turned out, I'm even more convinced that I should do it this way.
At first, we thought about painting the entire staircase, but then we would have to disassemble all the spindles, sand, paint and paint again, and try to screw everything back in place. This way, we skip several steps.
And we will also do a staircase renovation of the actual steps. It's going to be awesome!!

Just a thought: The old master escape artist Ioan Ursut checked out of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service at one point by squeezing through a ventilation opening that was seventeen cm on the narrow side. So surely a curious three-year-old who "just" wants to go under the stairs a more exciting way can manage to squeeze their body through the 13-cm opening and end up hanging by the head. If you ask on a forum, you'll get answers. Not always the ones you want though.
I guess my kids are fatter and less motivated than a self-starved, naked, oiled prisoner.Carl_Elvis said:Just a thought: The old escape artist Ioan Ursut once checked out from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service by squeezing through a ventilation opening that was seventeen cm on the narrow side. Keep in mind that lacquered steps can become slippery....
Well, it's not pretty... 70s brown too, of course.....
A friend did the same, tore out the ugly brown carpet, painted everything white, and put in a gray, really nice carpet. Too bad a few weeks later they had puppies that went to town on the carpet in the stairs! :/ But it turned out great!
