Drilling in ceiling concrete, does impact drill work? - new construction
Going to mount a curtain rail.
I live in a newly built property that was completed this year, 2021. I am wondering if the hammer drill (Bosch Professional GSB 13 RE) is capable of drilling holes in the concrete ceiling.
Do you think the hammer drill will work, or will it be a nightmare to drill holes? I have no experience drilling in concrete.

Anyone who has encountered impossible concrete in apartment buildings tries to use a percussion drill. In many cases, it is difficult and often ends up breaking the drill bit instead.
When using a rotary hammer, it's like drilling into butter.
For example, GBH 2-26 with an SDS chuck.

I understand, I wondered if it was because some were using hammer drills that were simply too weak or if they had the wrong type of drill bit. Ideally, I wanted to buy a type of drill that I could reuse (e.g., drill holes for paintings), but it seems that it's best to rent a rotary hammer from Bauhaus instead.MathiasS said:
Alternatively, this rotary hammer: Rotary hammer Cocraft HR710 | Clas Ohlson for 899 SEK. Is this good enough? Pretty ok price, otherwise it will cost 200 SEK to rent.
Yes, it's at least on paper strong enough. Then, if needed, you can complement with a screwdriver that you use to screw and drill everything else.
I would indeed rather buy a

but if the need is just an apartment, something from Clas is probably more reasonable.

Buy this:
https://www.amazon.se/Bosch-Professional-borrhammare-borr-Ø-betong/dp/B00469BDXY
It is a quality machine from Bosch's professional series.
It will outlive you and will easily solve your ceiling and wall issues in the apartment.

I see that the thread has been inactive for a while but.
I also need to drill in my ceiling which is also made of hard concrete to install a projector screen.
However, I own a rather flimsy hammer drill, a Bosch PSB 530 RE which says it should be at 530 watts but the actual output is only max half.
Should I borrow or buy a machine with more powerful motor output?

There are 2 types of machines you can use for drilling. One is like a regular one and spins at several thousand rounds, set in hammer mode and sounds like being at the dentist's (wear ear protection), just crap. And one that has a hammer in it that eats the concrete quickly, less noise. Borrow one from maybe a neighbor.
