"Do it yourself" - which insulation material?
If you want diffusion-open insulation on the inside of the basement wall, open-cell polyurethane might be an option, which is sprayed directly onto the wall.
Someone here on the forum was recommended to spray closed-cell polyurethane on the inside of the basement wall. I thought it seemed a bit doubtful, but I recall that he got this recommendation from two different companies, one of which I hired to insulate my roof, and I am very satisfied with it, and I thought they were good too.

GDS is basically a Danish newspaper. But the point of insulating on the outside is that the heat from the inside will help to dry out the basement wall. If you insulate the inside, you also move the "cold boundary" further into the wall viewed from the outside, and the moisture remains in the wall if you're unlucky.
