The big question in life.
I am going to renovate the bedroom but need to move some electrical outlets. Of course, my electrician friend will connect the electricity when he comes home.
But since he's not answering, I'm asking here.
Either I tear down the existing drywall, run new conduits, boxes, and screw up new drywall, or I cut channels in the existing one, run conduits, boxes, etc., and then cover with renovation drywall......

can't decide what feels easiest....

can from experience say that yes it's DEAD EASY to lay in the VP pipes after having milled a groove... But it also takes SEVERAL hours to clean up after...

But if you have an empty room and not like me a full kitchen and lacking protection, you might avoid wiping off ALL the gypsum dust, then I would definitely mill in the pipes.

Good luck!

Since it will be covered with plaster anyway, I would have removed the old plaster. It's the simplest, neatest, and doesn't create as much dust. Additionally, you have greater possibilities to lay the pipes properly. As a bonus, you also have the possibility to make any changes to the room on the other side of the wall.

I chose to open up the wall (Riva) I managed to remove strategically selected boards and as someone said earlier, you can also access and make changes in adjacent rooms.

I'm working on demolition, and it's going quite smoothly. Three layers of wallpaper keep it together in large pieces. I chisel around some nails, pry with the crowbar, and then go in with my hands and shake until the board comes loose from the other nails. But I just realized I'll probably need to get a new vapor barrier since I have to remove the old one to make room for the electrical work. Another trip to the store.......... It would have been convenient to add insulation at the same time....but then I'd probably have to add some more framing.....???

Oh dear, you're getting stuck in the "now that I've done this, it's much easier to also..." swamp.

Bin there, done that.
Good luck

/ Fredrik

:)
understand what you mean...ignore it for now.
but I need to put up a new barrier because there are some holes and more will appear when electrical sockets and pipes are installed.

thnx Fredrik :)
