It's time for the garage construction. There are some questions about how we best attach/connect the rafters and wall studs to the residential house (see attached images).
Correct me if I'm completely off track. I'm thinking of removing the panel, nail battens, and Hunton so that I reach the masonite beams. Then, blocking is placed between the masonite beams for subsequent steps, whatever they may be... that's as far as I've gotten in my thoughts.
The neighbor (carpenter), on the other hand, says it's just as good to proceed as I planned up to the blocking but instead just screw a support beam onto the outside of the masonite beams and then rest the rafters on top of it.
I'm a bit worried that there isn't enough material to screw into since the masonite beam consists of
45x45 - masonite - 45x45
How would you knowledgeable folks do if you were in the same situation? Tips and knowledge are gladly received!
Thank you in advance!
I have done a garage extension like yours and have not attached any load-bearing parts to the main building (the house). The garage stands completely on its own, which I imagine might be quite good. I have seen examples where an extension has "pulled" and caused cracks and shifts. But it was easier for me since the roof trusses go in the other direction.

Yes, that could perhaps be a sensible solution, but in this case, it's not feasible for me due to many reasons. The framework and roof trusses are dimensioned and pre-cut from the factory, so there's little room for changes. Also, there will be a terrace on the garage, so the designer advised us to connect it to the main building. I guess common sense and careful consideration will have to govern here. It should work out.
