Hello! As a new homeowner, it didn't take long before I ended up here :)

I tore down the wallpaper in the living room for re-wallpapering and then uncovered some cracks in the wall (concrete wall). It looks like quite large (10-20cm) pieces of concrete might come loose around the cracks if you poke with a screwdriver. However, it seems that the cracks are old since the wallpaper has probably been there for at least 20 years, and there was some form of fibrous fabric over it to stabilize the cracks, I assume.

I don't just want to fill with fine filler and whistle away with the wallpaper, but I would like to hear from you about what should be used to fix this damage?
I discussed this with a friend, and he recommended lättbetong (a type of lightweight concrete), what do you say? And should I reinforce in some way?

Attaching some pictures.

  • Cracks in a concrete wall revealed after removing wallpaper, showing potential detachment of 10-20 cm pieces, with old fiber fabric used for stabilization.
  • Exposed concrete wall with cracks and peeling wallpaper in a living room, showing potential loose concrete pieces around the damaged area.
  • Cracked concrete wall with peeling wallpaper in a living room, revealing exposed damage and old fiber mesh stabilizing the surface.
  • Peeling wallpaper reveals cracks and damage on a concrete wall, showing old fiber tapestry and exposed areas, possibly indicating structural issues.
Plaster! Skip reinforcement.

It looks like moisture damage. Is it an exterior wall?

If you have moisture seeping in, the plaster falls off after a few weeks...
Make sure it's not moisture (it could also be some old water damage).

The cracks are quite extensive, I think. Maybe bring in a structural engineer to look at it?

What's on the other side of the wall?
I think it looks like plaster and not concrete, it also looks like someone tried to repair the cracks earlier.

What's above?
The crack running from ceiling to floor looks to be directly under a ceiling beam/rafter.
If it's an attic above, go up and check how it looks.
My eye measure tells me the crack is about 1 meter out from the corner! Is that correct?

Don't repair any cracks until you know why it cracked.
I could be completely wrong but it's hard to determine without being on site.
