Hello hello!
Today I have a 1 ½ story house and I'm considering whether it's possible to expand downward, i.e., a basement level. I've sketched some possible and impossible ideas and concluded that there's really only one option.
I wanted to see if you think it's possible; the extension refers to the ground level and would mean that part of the covered terrace we have today would be enclosed and the exterior wall would be moved. The tricky part is that there's a weird angle on the house that I'm unsure about how it will turn out with moving the facade, and above all, IS it possible to do this, or is it totally idiotic because it might cost a fortune to do?
I'm posting two floor sketches, the first one showing how it looks today and the second one showing how the plan is to connect with the basement level.

Hi! Well, by basement floor I mean the ground floor, the idea was to build a room/garage under the deck, everything stands on pillars and at the far end of the almost circular deck, the height is 4 meters, so I think there's plenty of room underneath...Krawk said:
It's nothing that causes major problems, but there are quite a few connection details that need to be thought through.
Fixing a foundation under an existing building with associated pillars and foundations can also cause some head-scratching.

What connection details are you thinking about? The space that the staircase should lead down to hasn't been built yet, nor has the terrace that should be above it. The reason I'm bringing up the question is that I either have to build the terrace as it is to be able to finalize the building permit or revise it and draw in a room underneath with a connection to the main building (the staircase). And since we need more space, it would be like letting penny-wise, pound-foolish to just build the terrace now and then maybe 5-6 years from now tear it down to build a room below...
