I agree. On Näset in gbg, there is a seemingly fully renovated townhouse available for 5.2. Built in '67, 123m2. I think it's difficult to make that full renovation pay off.
If being close to the sea isn't the most important thing, there are quite a few nice places a bit inland, where you obviously get a lot more for your money. Being close to the sea is somewhat cheaper a bit further south, without having checked? With pretty good commuting options. Åsa does have a station, Onsala works by car.
Building new is not advisable in this market (even though the advice is a bit unrealistic given the high plot prices in the area vs the object TS is looking at). With falling prices in the housing market and rising prices on materials and inputs, it's high risk. Moreover, some housing companies are doing very poorly and risk bankruptcy. Just read the thread about Anebyhus reconstruction, there are more enjoyable things to do. Others have long waiting times due to heavy rains, which increases the risk even more.
