Complete renovation - How much can it cost?
but it's the area that's nicer and one of the finest in western Sweden, not the house itself, what is it you don’t understand?P Pligg85 said:Yes, regarding a row of houses, it has nothing to do with "fancier" or "upper class"
The property is in the condition that designated houses usually are, and it's small and cramped. It doesn't scream status from the pictures...
I can only vouch for myself, but I associate the finer upper class with "gräddhyllor" with detached houses 200+ sqm and a garage. Large plot and nice view.
Then if there’s a townhouse on the outskirts with the same postcode, it doesn’t automatically share the same status.
In this case, it doesn't even have a gable; it's a shared wall that the neighbor uses to hang a TV.
This is what happens when the lower class can borrow their way to a higher position in society for a few years.
Being able to borrow 5,000,000 SEK for under 4000kr a month. The woman can be on parental leave and the man can work as a fitter at Volvo and do just fine. Even have a new car on lease.
When the kitchen needs renovation, you just call a handyman and go to the padel hall yourself.
Completely set on the property appreciating by a million in no time.
Then comes the day when interest rates quadruple, Volvo lays off workers, and the property has lost a few years' worth in value. Then it’s important to get a good price for your padel racket on Blocket.
according to your reasoning, if you take a newly built villa of 200 sqm with a garage and place it in Rinkeby, does it suddenly become an upper-class area?
When you've found these "Gräddhyllor" with multiple detached villas with fine views in Rinkeby, I can answer. Not before.A Aunty said:
Don't cling to the idea that this particular property is in a finer area, it's not worthy.
Some of the finest properties here are located 5 minutes from the dump. That doesn't elevate the dump's status. Nor does it lower the status of the fine properties.
I don't live in a posh area at all.
But quite high above an open valley.
My house is valued at 1.6 MSEK. Could sell for a bit more.
Well-maintained, renovated, new outer roof, attached heated garage, cheap heating, large soapstone fireplace for both cooking, coziness, and warmth.
Dog yard with a doghouse. Freestanding wood-burning sauna.
Visible distance to neighbors. High, secluded location.
Can go outside and pee around the corner, doesn't bother anyone.
Moose, wolves, and deer are visible now and then.
Mm mm mm....
So pleased that the house is almost paid off.
I believe the total loan cost is around 1000 SEK/month.
Can do things that amuse as a pensioner. Sailing throughout the warm season on Vänern. Riding a snowmobile tomorrow near the summer cabin. Fishing year-round...
In the coming weeks, splitting about 20 m3 of birch firewood. Quite pleasant in the spring sun.
Yes, yes... Everything depends on the active choices one makes and can make.
TS will surely be satisfied with their choices.
Not many want to live like me.
Imagine if I, like TS, had a few million to spend.
I wonder what I would have done then?

I think it's better to buy a finished one https://www.booli.se/bostad/1948445E Edvin Berggren said:Hello!
My partner and I are going to a viewing of a renovation project.

Total 118 sqm (4 bedrooms, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, living room, laundry room, hall, etc.)
We want to completely renovate everything. Everything should be gutted and replaced with new.
The problem is that we are completely new to this, and we would like to find out how much this would cost.
I understand that you need to contact construction companies for home visits to get an exact price.
But what do you think such a renovation would cost?
Do you say yes... Aunty.
The neighbor's son just built... A bit expensive, both I and his father think.
A little over 3 million including the plot and everything.
The point is that everything has to be expensive, expensive, and even more expensive as soon as it becomes densely built. The house producers and sellers know this.
People pay, and as long as they do, the business will continue.
It seems as if it's a status symbol to live in a house that you've paid a lot for.
I know my house would have cost around 4 million in Stockholm about 15 years ago.
But as long as there are buyers, the carousel keeps spinning.

Yes, maybe it did but it would never have been like that in Billdal, then you wouldn't even have gotten a plot for 3 million. What is it that you don't understand?H Hybro said:You say yes... Aunty.
