Currently working on installing a window recess and window sill in MDF. What I'm wondering now is how do I handle the latex sealant that goes between the recess and the windows? Should I apply it to the MDF before pressing it against the window or do I apply a line after mounting the MDF?

I prefer to place a thin string at the angle and then drag my finger over it. After that, I paint. I recall that I usually apply a primer first, then use soft joint sealant, and finish with the final coat of paint.

Do you really need sealant for this? The paint should cover the tiny bit that might be left.

In some places, there are gaps so little sealant is needed

When I performed the same operation, I masked the window frame about 2 mm above the surface of the smygskiva, applied soft sealant, and painted.
