Building "bridge of overhead cabinets" between two Pax wardrobes - Plywood or paint

Hello everyone!

I'm in the process of planning storage in our new apartment and need some input from those of you who are handy. The plan is to place two IKEA Pax wardrobes (100x58x236 cm) on either side of the bed. To maximize the space, I want to build a "bridge" with wall-mounted overhead cabinets between the wardrobes.

To achieve that built-in look, I'm going to frame everything with MDF boards (cover panels/filler pieces).

My thoughts:
1. Do you think that cabinets with a depth of 58 cm will be too heavy/bulky to wall-mount above the bed? I plan to secure them firmly to the back wall, which is concrete, and also screw them to the Pax frames on the sides for extra support.
2. Is there anything specific I should consider when it comes to the mounting of such a deep "bridge" so you can sleep safely under it? Is plywood the smartest choice here, or should I consider modifying something like kitchen frames (IKEA Metod) even though the depth isn't an exact match?

I was considering building two 100 cm cabinets with a divider in the middle.

If you're handy enough, it's possible to modify IKEA's products.

You can place a beam at the front edge between the standing Pax wardrobes or a whole shelf of plywood as a base for the intermediate cabinets.
