Building a larger gate between house and garage. Anchoring?
Hello!
I'm planning to build a gate between the garage and the house and I have a few questions.
The width from garage to house is 130cm. The height of the gate should be about 150cm.
I'm thinking of a Z construction.
It's going to be quite a heavy gate considering the dimensions, so my question is how to best anchor it?
Can I screw a beam to the garage wall and attach the gate to that beam?
For the frame of the gate, I was thinking of using 45x70 with vertical slats.
What dimension should the beam in the wall be, and how should it be anchored best?
This would be the easiest way to avoid digging and concreting a post next to the garage.
Question 2.
Is it best to use pressure-treated wood? I might paint the gate eventually and from what I understand, it should stand for at least 1 year before painting?
Thanks in advance!
