Hi, I replaced windows about 8 years ago, and at that time, stones above the window came loose. To ensure they don't fall, I installed several brackets holding a flat bar profile at the bottom.
The question is whether this is okay or if it needs to be redone? According to an inspector before our sale, a profile bar should be milled into the stone with an overhang to the other wall stone, meaning it should rest on it to support the stone above the window.
Thanks for tips and reference to construction std

  • White stone wall above a window with support brackets for a flat steel profile at the bottom, reflecting nearby houses in the glass.
If the stone hasn't moved in 8 years, I would let the buyer fix it if needed or if they feel like it. The inspection is just to show the condition of the house and not a renovation list. You won't get your money back if you fix it, and if you're unlucky, something might collapse. If the previous owners of our house had done what you've done, we probably wouldn't have any loose stones today.
