Guess you mean pre-drilling. I still maintain that it's unnecessary to screw, and if you even have to pre-drill, it will weaken the rule. Although I believe it will hold anyway, I wouldn't do it. The glue is strong enough.
Then comes the inevitable question: Which wood glues can you trust?

Possible pre-drilling and screws do not weaken...

The glue is certainly strong enough, but screw gluing is actually always stronger since you simply get the benefits of both without any new disadvantages, provided it is done correctly.
Both methods will work. That the removed material due to pre-drilling provides a certain weakening is a given, but you also get a certain cohesive effect opposite to the grain direction that can be advantageous on a beam that is evidently prone to cracking. Which is more beneficial in this case is mostly theoretical :)

I would probably try @marka's idea if possible and reinforce with another beam behind this one to be completely sure.

Regular white wood glue (for example [link]) if it won't be exposed to moisture, otherwise a PU glue (for example [link])

I guess the first one works well since it will likely be under a roof, right?
Exactly, that's correct, I'm going with the indoor glue. Thank you so much :)
