Hello!

After looking around a bit in our house, I've noticed that the vapor barrier has certain issues. My understanding is that there should be an overlap between the plastic on the wall and the plastic in the ceiling for it to be sealed. In our case, it seems like there's an open seam in all wall-ceiling angles and only the ceiling trim is sealing it. Is there a good way to fix this? The ceiling mostly consists of tongue and groove that is directly attached to the plastic, creating channels right in the wall-ceiling seam and further up into the attic, I assume. I don't want to tear down walls and ceilings; I just want it sealed along the ceiling. How do I do that? I've also noticed some moisture in the attic, so it's probably coming from this. What do you think?

Grateful for tips!

Best regards, Andreas

If the vapor barrier is leaky, moisture might be because of that. Unfortunately, there is probably no easy solution to your problem, a bad vapor barrier must be corrected, otherwise you'll have issues. Alternatively, you can ventilate a lot, but that won't be cheap :'(
