The screw broke in the wall: how do I get it out?
Hi!
Wall: Brick / plaster / tile.
I drilled and plugged and started to screw in the screw and didn't realize that I drilled for a plug that's shorter than the screw.
So I screwed in the screw with a screwdriver, past the plug and into the brick wall at full power until it broke off.
A few mm are sticking out and I can grab it with pliers but it's stuck like a rock.
Anyone got any smart tips on how to get it out?
See pictures.
Grateful for help🙏
Best regards,
Idiot

Of course, you risk the screw breaking again. But what is the alternative? It's important to get as good a grip as possible, so I would probably start by removing the part of the plug that protrudes at the screw so it is not in the way. Possibly file the screw so that the protruding part becomes more square. Get a good grip and try to unscrew the screw. Do not pull!
Found one at Bauhaus which in the description says, "The small curved jaws allow the wrench to cut in hard-to-reach places. Cut smaller pieces at a time for best results."Immobil said:

But maybe it's fine?
Thanks for the reply, by the way.
Thanks for the tips! Good idea to clear and file.janwide said:

What do you think about a welding plier?Immobil said:

Solved!
The mistake I made when I first tried to remove the screw was that I grabbed with the pliers not only the screw but also the remnants of the plug sticking out. In hindsight, it feels obvious☺️
When I cut away the plug remnants and grabbed only the screw and unscrewed, it went perfectly.
Thanks @Immobil and @janwide!

You should not drill in the joint at the edges of the tiles as you risk chipping or cracking a tile.
Drill a hole in the tile instead, but now that you have already drilled the hole, it's probably best to just continue.
