Hello everyone,

I'm planning to tear down two walls (marked in red) between the kitchen and living room. Are they load-bearing? The house is from 1965. Thanks in advance!

  • Floor plan of a house from 1965, showing a kitchen, dining area, and living room. Walls marked in red are considered for removal.
  • Apartment buildings with one unit's walls marked in red, indicating potential renovation plans.
Assuming it is a BRF, before the wall question is answered, one should perhaps make sure that approval from the association has been obtained.

Better to ask the association where the bearing is located, then you will also know if you are allowed/can make such an intervention.

Regarding whether it is load-bearing, my answer is:

I see no core wall, so yes, perhaps all walls are auxiliary load-bearing.

Good luck

One might not want to judge this based on a drawing made by a real estate agent.....

Yeah, damn! I didn't see that until you mentioned it. Haha. :x Yeah, then things can go really wrong if you start knocking down walls based on instructions from a forum.

With a very high probability, those walls are not load-bearing.
