Renovating a house from 1920. Everything needs to be done, kind of... The house now has new pipes. Had to remove asbestos flooring that also had asbestos in the glue. Therefore, I'm a bit concerned about two other materials.
1/Garage floor. What kind of material is this, I wonder? It's quite soft.
2/ I thought it was a bathroom mat in the larger bathroom, but when I tear off a piece, it feels more like wallpaper...

Can I breathe easy regarding asbestos in these materials, I wonder. I haven't heard of asbestos being in wallpaper. Thin, flexible, and easy to tear off. Maybe I should burn a piece?

Several people have wondered what is currently lying as the garage floor directly on the ground. Does anyone know?

  • A torn piece of material, possibly a garage floor or bathroom wallpaper, on a wooden surface. The texture appears soft and fibrous.
  • Close-up of textured garage floor material with uneven and rough surface, possibly concrete or asbestos-containing, surrounded by dirt and small debris.
  • Blue patterned wall covering with leafy designs in a 1920s house renovation. Suitable for inquiry about material type and possible asbestos content.

Image 1 looks like asbestos matting that is usually used as fire protection in boiler rooms and behind electrical panels. Or is it the backside of the wallpaper?

Yep, blue patterned front side and back side wallpaper in the picture.

Okay. Then it is most likely not asbestos in it anyway.
