Wood can now be welded!

Glue is no longer needed to join wood together. Dr. Mojgan Vaziri at the Luleå University of Technology unit in Skellefteå has developed a method to weld pine with heat.


The joint becomes twice as strong as if it were glued and also withstands moisture, the university writes in a press release.
According to Mojgan Vaziri, completely new opportunities are created for the wood industry, which can manufacture furniture, floors, and ceilings without using environmentally hazardous glue.

Wonder what one would need such a strong joint for? With regular white glue, it should crack next to the joint.
I wonder which glues are environmentally hazardous, the white glue? PU is probably not the gentlest.

Sounds like an April Fool's joke but it's a bit early for that so it's probably true.

What use it may have is for others to figure out, I just think it's so fantastic to come up with such a thing
