Hello! I'm having a headache now while I'm installing renovation plaster. As you can see in the picture, the plaster/cardboard bulges out when I screw into the middle of the board. It looks better when you screw in the countersink on the edges than in the middle.. is it simply the wrong screw? I'm using 3.9x30 mm

Very uneven surface behind? I've also seen renovation plasterboard behave like that if the surface behind is too uneven.

Not enormously uneven.. but sure, it's a bit uneven in the joints on the chipboard behind the wallpaper. That's partly why I'm attaching renovation plasterboard 😀

Had the same problem. It went better when I pressed the screw with the screwdriver before tightening it. After that, I switched to regular drywall instead, cheaper and easier to work with.

I have had the exact same problem 🙁
Tried three different types of screws. Then I thought it was Byggmax bad drywall, so I tested boards from K-rauta. Same misery.
It seems to be a standard problem with renovation drywall.
Had to take a sharp knife and carve off the bulges.

Rickard.
What happens if you test a chipboard screw? Sure, the head is wrong for plasterboard but obviously, the right head is also wrong...

You can have a higher speed on the screwdriver.

I think this phenomenon occurs if you use regular drywall screws and too low RPMs. There is a certain reason why drywall drivers are at 4500rpm.

Might be that the screw pulls and cracks a piece of the (reinforced) drywall before it pulls itself into the material behind. Haven't seen the phenomenon with regular boards. Could match Cykelola's experience too. Push harder with the screwdriver?

Are they real drywall screws with trumpet head?

Try impact driver

For my part, they were "real" drywall screws. Three different brands purchased at various hardware stores. Can't remember off the top of my head which ones.

Have had the same issue, guessing that it's the fiberglass reinforcement in the thin sheet that's the cause. Somehow it's pushing out the overlying gypsum layer. But I could be completely wrong. 🙂
Ended up hammering over it and then spackling.
Since then, I've only used regular gypsum boards.

I can now announce that I was at the building shop and brought back a box of hårdgipsskruv with me! It went smoothly after that. 👍🏼
